The Program to Promote Industrial Competitiveness and Sustainability Tractor Projects aspires to be one of those chosen by the Government for the reactivation of Spain.
The estimated investment is 500 million.

Moehs actively participates contributing its research and innovation value in the Essential Medicines and Strategic Industrial Capacities project for the value chain of the Innovative Pharmaceutical Industry in Spain (Medes). This project is part of the call for Expressions of Interest of the Program to Promote Industrial Competitiveness and Sustainability tractor projects of the Ministry of Industry.
The objective is twofold: to increase strategic manufacturing capacities to guarantee the supply of strategic medicines for our country and to improve the productive competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry in Spain through its training in knowledge, technology and digitization.

These essential or strategic medicines are for the most part mature medicines, with many years on the market and which no longer have patent protection, but which are still indicated to combat certain symptoms or diseases.
The constant revision of downward prices of these drugs in European countries has contributed to the fact that they have gradually stopped being manufactured here and their production has been concentrated in Asian countries. The pandemic has revealed the danger of such a great dependence in a field as delicate as medicine.

This initiative is very relevant in these times of severe economic crisis, due to the impulse that the project’s driving effect can achieve for the economic and social reactivation facing Spain.
